OBSESSED IN WRITING

First published in 2012 as open fiction

“A Friday night. It was raining hard outside. He was alone at that guesthouse, which was in a reserve forest area. Howling wind pounded on the doors. Suddenly everything jolted in a thunderbolt. The power went off. Thick darkness filled in.

Normally he liked the untamed forces of nature. However, during that time unknown fears overwhelmed his thoughts. He did not know why. 'Human mind behaves strangely at times' - he tried to console himself.

Suddenly a knock heard at the front door. His fears crossed the limit. He knew that no human being other than himself was there at that time. It was also not possible for anyone else to reach the place in such a bad weather.

The knock repeated. It was getting stronger and louder. He did not know what to do.

‘Who…is…that' - somehow he managed to get these much sound out of his gullet.
No answer.

The knocking continued. An over release of adrenalin saved him from a collapse. He never feared that much before. He thought some evil spirits were trying to fail the bold man in him. ‘No, I shall not allow it to defeat me' - he told himself and decided to open the door.

When he moved the latch a little bit, the door was pushed open with a loud cracking sound and somebody rushed into the room. He almost lost breath and closed his eyes tightly.”

He did not know how much time passed like that. When he opened his eyes again, it was a bright evening! He looked around. He was sitting in an armchair in the living room with a writing board on his lap. Sheets of white paper were seen scattered all over the floor. He grabbed a written sheet from the floor and read:

“A Friday night. It was raining heavily outside. He was alone at that guesthouse, which was in a reserve forest area. Mad wind pounded on the doors. Suddenly everything jolted in a thunderbolt. The power went off. Thick darkness filled in..." It was the opening chapter of his new horror novel.  He laughed aloud while thinking about how he was captivated in his own imagination.

Again he heard hard knocks at the door accompanied by the angry words of his wife: "Jimmm…, what are you doing there, man? Open the door"

‘oh my God! she returned from work!’ – he jumped off his chair and rushed towards the door.
