In the Camp : The Grand Final Planning

Snap a picture with every group, so no one leaves without a smile frozen in time!

Teachers and students

As the sun sank low, brushing the sky with warm strokes of orange and pink, it was exactly 7 o'clock on the last magical evening of summer camp. The children gathered in a tight circle, buzzing with excitement for their final planning meeting. Laughter bubbled up as they dreamed big about tomorrow's grand goodbye adventure!

Murali spoke up wisely: "Let's plan the morning of our fourth day as one big group. No teams this time. We'll see how much more organized we've become after these three wonderful days."

"Agreed!" came the cheerful chorus from everyone.

"Let's build a huge obstacle course!" Maya called out. "And a friendship chain relay race!" added another, eyes wide with sparkle. Holding hands like a band of brave explorers, they shaped and sharpened their ideas until the plan glowed brilliantly. Their teamwork turned everything golden. High-fives cracked like fireworks, and every heart swelled with the power to do anything together!

Then Lyla chimed in: "We should collect everyone's leaving times for tomorrow. It's key to making our day perfect."

"Spot on!" Nadiya agreed, and the group burst into applause.

"May I take charge of that?" Nadiya offered.

"Absolutely—go for it!" they replied. One by one, the children shared their travel plans, and Nadiya neatly entered them into a spreadsheet on the camp laptop. She added her own last and sorted the list from earliest to latest. The circle grew quiet, after a few minutes Nadiya announced: "Twenty-seven friends leave by 11 a.m., and the other twenty-three head out between 12:30 p.m. and 2:45 p.m."

"What a smart split!" said Shyam, who had quickly become the camp's star chef in just three days.

"How is it smart?" wondered Manjusha.

"Easy," Shyam explained with a grin. "The early birds get a hearty breakfast. The later group enjoys breakfast and lunch. If the teachers say yes, we could even serve breakfast and lunch to the parents who come to pick them up!"

Thunderous claps filled the air as the idea won every vote.

Now came the fun part: brainstorming ways to say a sparkling goodbye to their friends and families. "What if we make personalized friendship bracelets?" suggested Ravi, twisting his fingers like he was weaving magic. "We could hand them out with a quick note saying what we love about each person!"

"Ooh, yes! And let's line up for a 'gratitude tunnel'!" added Sofia, jumping to her feet. "Everyone stands in two rows, and as each friend walks through, we shower them with kind words—like 'You're the best storyteller!' or 'Thanks for making me laugh!' It’ll feel like a wave of hugs!"

"Don't forget photo booth moments!" piped up Jamal. "Snap a picture with every group, so no one leaves without a smile frozen in time!"

"And a group cheer chant!" exclaimed Priya. "We all shout special nicknames, like 'Super Shyam the Soup Wizard!' to send them off with giggles echoing in their ears."

The ideas flowed like a river of rainbows, each one building on the last, until their farewell plan felt like the warmest, most memorable send-off ever.

Then they rushed to share it all with Teacher Indira. Her bright nod of yes sent them leaping and whooping with joy. "We're the greatest squad in the universe!" they hollered, dashing to dinner with full hearts and empty plates soon to be filled with tasty camp favorites.
